Halloween

I know, I'm a little behind. Raise your hand if you're surprised!

Seamus decided that Halloween was not for him & refused to participate or wear a proper costume.

Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Patty carved pumpkins. Seamus sat each of his pumpkins in paint & was done.

Mom explaining how to paint pumpkins to Seamus.

Seamus saying, "Yeah, right. This is how you do it..."

My Allroy-O'Lantern.

We went to the gym & then Trick-or-Treating with Dalton. Seamus would not wear the totally awesome pirate costume I bought. Instead, he wore a basketball outfit he wears all the time. Oh well. He didn't get Trick-or-Treating at first, but after the 2nd house he had it down! He had his bucket in hand waiting for candy & wanted to go into everyone's houses. Too bad I didn't take any pictures...

Dalton & Mr. John. Dalton was Mr. John for Halloween!

At Dalton's Pre-T-or-T Halloween Party.

We had a costume party with Becky & Ron. It was fun, everyone had a great time. Seamus would still not wear a costume, so he went as himself. I can't blame him, I'm the same way. Although, I did dress up this year, just want to make that clear...HaHa!

ORBS!

The Kidney Update

It turns out that Seamus does, in fact, have hydronephrosis & reflux in both kidneys. Grade 2, so not that bad. The pediatrician says that being so low on the grade scale, it should resolve on its own. We shall see. We have an appointment with Seamus' urologist on 01.05.09 to go over the radiologist's report & recommendations. We do know that he will be on a low-dose antibiotic for at least six months, and possibly a year.

He also had his 2 year checkup today & that went wonderfully. He would tell you otherwise, but I thought it went great! Just know that he is otherwise healthy & meeting all of his milestones.

Thanks to everyone who has called or emailed to check up on us!

I'll post another update after we meet with the urologist.

Stay tuned for much funner news & pics!

XOXO

Seamus' kidneys

It's probably not common knowledge, but I know a lot of people know that Seamus had an enlarged kidney when I was pregnant with him. We had lots of ultrasounds done & they kept a good eye on it. They did another ultrasound when he was born & said that it looked good.

He recently started to have some symptoms that something wasn't right; tenderness & whatnot. More ultrasounds were done this month & today he had to have a VCUG (vesicoureterogram voiding cystourethrogram), aka a tube in your wee wee to push fluoroscopic fluid into your kidneys then peeing it back out while a radiologist takes x-rays of it.

He did good. He got whiny as soon as we walked into the x-ray room, but he didn't really put up a fight. They took an x-ray of his bladder, then numbed him up with Lidocaine & put the catheter in. He cried & cried; who wouldn't? Then, when he was done, I stood him up on the table & he peed all over Ant for 10 seconds at least!

According to the radiologist, he has hydronephrosis & reflux in both ureters and kidneys. He said the urologist will probably put him on a low-dose antibiotic for a year & then do the test again. I asked him about the problem Christian had, and he said that if he had any kinks they would have seen it, so he likely isn't going to need surgery. If the reflux doesn't resolve itself by the time he's 4 or 5, they may have to do some procedure, but he really didn't go into that.

So now we are just waiting to hear back from the urologist to find out what course she wants to take.

Seamus got chocolate milk on the ride home, watched Yo Gabba Gabba, and is now sound asleep.
